Men’s Volleyball Net Height Ages 55-69: 7 feet, 9 ⅝ inches or 2.38 meters; Men’s Volleyball Net Height Ages 70+: 7 feet, 6 inches or 2.29 meters; Women’s Volleyball Net Heights. Similar to men’s volleyball, the official regulation volleyball net height for women’s volleyball is allowed to be lowered for certain age groups.
For boys and girls ages 11 and 12 years old, the net height is 7 feet. Boys 12 years old and younger will typically play on a volleyball net height set at 2.13 meters or 7 feet. The regulation net height for girls' high school and women's competitive volleyball is 7 feet, 4 1/8 inches. This measurement is taken from the center of the net. A quality net consists of top and bottom horizontal bands of canvas or vinyl running the entire length of the net, with cords to keep the top and bottom taut during play. Nets used in competition typically measure 39 inches wide and between 31 feet, 6 inches and 33 feet in length.
The height of the net depends on where you are playing. For example, in indoor facilities it is typically 8 feet high and for beach volleyball it’s usually 7 feet. These heights were designed to accommodate different player’s abilities and styles.
The high school level is typically where a separation is created amongst size and skill level of volleyball athletes… The net in high school is set at specific heights determined by the sex of the athletes. For FIVB World and Official competitions, the free zone is a minimum of 5m (16’) and a maximum of 6m (20’) from the end lines/side lines. The free playing space shall measure a minimum of 12.5m (41’) in height from the playing surface. Boundary lines mark the perimeter of the court.
Net Height. The official heights for the nets vary for men and women, but of course, you want to have success early on for beginner players so by all means feel free to adjust the net height. For ages 15 and above, the heights are: Men – 2.43 meters; Women – 2.24 meters; Variations. Below age 15, you can use: Boys and Girls ages 13-14 – 2.24 meters
6. The net height for grades 7 & 8 shall be the same as the net height for grades 9-12 at 7’4 1/8”, per NFHS Rule. 7.
